Ottawa Sport and Entertainment Group joins True Sport
(Ottawa, Ontario – September 23, 2016) – True Sport is pleased to welcome the Ottawa Sport and Entertainment Group (OSEG) as one of the newest True Sport members. We look forward to seeing how OSEG will promote values-based and principle-driven sport in its community and through its professional sport teams – the Ottawa REDBLACKS, Ottawa Fury FC and the Ottawa 67’s.
“We are happy to have OSEG join True Sport,” said Karri Dawson, Executive Director of the True Sport Foundation. “Members across the country are doing amazing things to promote good sport in their communities. True Sport is practiced from the playground to the podium, and now we are excited to see it move into professional sport!”
To help spread the message that good sport can make a great difference, six professional athletes along with the mascots of the REDBLACKS, Fury FC and 67’s will be visiting the students of Queen Mary Public School in Ottawa on September 26 for a special assembly. The athletes and mascots will play games with the students, share stories and join the students in a True Sport banner signing to be displayed in the school.
“Community engagement is very important to our teams, so joining True Sport was a natural choice,” said Mark Sluban, Community Events Specialist with OSEG. “We truly believe in the True Sport Principles and we will do our part to communicate the importance of good sport to our fans and the young athletes who look up to our players.”
