We Are One - Kickin’ it in the Community
Using soccer to include everyone and give-back.
Nepean City SC draws on an area with quite a varied demographic; NCSC’s catchment area consists of population of established and new Canadians representing a variety of income levels and diverse communities. NCSC has formed two significant partnerships with communities in need within the Ottawa area – Just for Kicks and The Bayshore Community Association. Just for Kicks is a program for children ages 5 – 18 with developmental disabilities aimed at helping them to get active and have fun while learning soccer-related skills. NCSC’s “Just for Kicks” program offers a weekly session run by an extremely dedicated volunteer Shannon Bagg and her army of incredible volunteers for a minimal cost per season in part to the club providing services, equipment and fields at no cost. The Bayshore Community Association partnership was headed by Hani Saad who was instrumental in establishing a soccer program in Ottawa’s Bayshore area – an area with a high density of new Canadians who bring a love for the game of soccer. Integrating into the larger Ottawa community is not always easy. With that in mind Hani Saad reached out to multiple groups for help for the Bayshore community soccer program he was running. He was in need of coaching expertise and support to deliver the growing program. NCSC was the Club who was able to Give Back and help out.
