Trick or Eat

Each year, the True Sport Give-Back Challenge receives submissions packed full of inspiring stories of how communities have used sport to Give Back. Congratulations to the MSVU Women's Soccer Team for being one of the finalists.

Our Story 2012:
After a second place finish at ACAA soccer championships the Mount St Vincent University women's soccer team was overwhelmed by the support it received from the community all season. We wanted to find a way to give back and show how much we appreciate being a part of the HRM community. Hunger is a big problem in our neighborhoods, especially for youth. We joined our Rec Society and went door to door in Halifax asking for donations for Feed Nova Scotia as part of the Trick or Eat campaign. As athletes, we know how important good nutrition is for every facet of life. We want to make sure everyone in our community has the food resources they need to be the best they can be. The event gave our women's soccer team the chance to see the power of sport beyond our playing field.
