Fast and Female

Using fun, free, inspiring events works to inspire young girls to get involved and stay involved in sport.

Fast and Female celebrated sports day in Canada on September 17 in Canmore, Alberta by hosting a fun and non-competitive morning of sports and fitness for women which included an inspirational segment by Olympian Beckie Scott. The morning activity was open to ladies ages 5 to 99 and featured sports like alpine dryland, biathlon, mountain biking, zumba dancing, running, bootcamp fitness, low impact walking and yoga. The intent was to engage women of all fitness abilities and skills and to unite in celebration of sports in Canada. All proceeds from the event were donated to Fast and Female which is a non-profit society operating nation-wide whose mission is to inspire girls to stay in and reach their full potential through sports. This event raised $1,200 for programs in the Canmore region which in turn allowed the organization to host two youth events to promote retention of girls in sport. These events offer opportunities for young girls to meet positive female role models who will hopefully inspire them to stay involved in sport and try new things.
